Tang Wen

Overview
Tang Wen's work weaves narratives of relationships, secrecy, unspoken desires, loss and pursuit, and the interplay of dream and reality.

For Tang Wen, life unfolds as a series of fragmented, incomplete encounters. These moments often resurface in her mind—intertwined with lyrics she has heard, words she has read, and scenes from films she has watched—evoking elusive, unresolved emotions that linger beneath the surface. It is these emotions that she seeks to capture in her paintings and drawings, creating what she calls “emotional spaces.” Shaped by her personal experiences and memories, these spaces weave narratives of relationships, secrecy, unspoken desires, loss and pursuit, and the interplay of dream and reality.

The emotional spaces she constructs are deliberately semi-open: they carry a distinct emotional undertone yet resist fixed interpretation. Tang Wen aims for her work to remain at once personal and universal, capable of stirring something internal in the viewer—something ambiguous, unsettling, and beyond words. Tang Wen is a master’s student at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm.
