In recent years, Mauritzson has increasingly turned towards nature, fascinated by its extraordinary richness of colour, plant life and wildlife. Her paintings have gradually shifted from the idea of the furnished room towards the notion of furnished nature. What we see outside the window every day feels familiar and constant, yet what appears to be our backdrop may in fact be our very foundation. Nature’s room is also our room – and she has moved out.
_______________
