Tinplate 1 Treasure island — in the Pacific Ocean close to Solomon Island, mapped by Francis Bacon 1657. 220 cm diameter.

The tin plates take their inspiration from islands in The Dictionary of Imaginary Places by Alberto Manguel and Gianni Guadalupi. Full-scale charcoal drawings are mirrored onto the backs of cut-out metal plates. The plates are then heated with a power hammer before being manually worked with lead-filled wooden mallets of various sizes.

Treasure Island. The island is roughly 16 km long and 12 km wide, located off the coast of Mexico. Separated by a strait near the island’s southern tip is a cluster of rocks known as Skeleton Island. The island’s highest point is Spy-glass Hill, which rises approximately 90 meters above sea level. On the southern coast, there is a natural harbor called "Captain Kidd’s Anchorage." The southwest coast is inaccessible due to its 30-40 meter high cliffs. To the north, there are long sandy beaches and another natural harbor, surrounded by dense forest. The island’s only building is a log house, hidden within the forests near the southern natural harbor. Treasure Island was discovered and mapped in 1754 by Captain Flint.

Svenska.
