Tinplate 9 — Lincoln

Lincoln. A now almost entirely vanished volcanic island, located 15,641 nautical miles off the coast of New Zealand. It was discovered by chance in 1865 when a hot air balloon carrying a group of refugees from the American Civil War made an emergency landing on the island. On its black beaches, seals, crustaceans, and mollusks of various kinds once thrived. The island’s interior was dominated by a plateau, surrounded by two snow-covered volcanoes. The island’s sole inhabitant turned out to be another refugee, the renowned submarine captain, Nemo. Some time after the Americans’ arrival, a massive volcanic eruption devastated most of the island. Today, only a few barren rocks remain. The island is also known as The Mysterious Island.

Lincoln. Ön kallas också The Mysterious Island.
