In the Wardrobe

Mauritzson lingers on bonds formed in everyday life with animals, family members, and the home. In the Wardrobe reflects a form of closeness shaped through proximity and shared routines, rather than through ideas of permanence or lasting promises. The painting moves at the pace of everyday life, where time unfolds through repetition and continuation. Still lifes appear not as fixed arrangements, but as lived environments where care, habit, and the unexpected quietly coexist. Animals and everyday items recur as elements that point toward the cyclical nature of life. Rooted in the still life tradition, the work touches on questions of time and transience — suggesting that what is held close is not defined by how long it lasts, but by how it is lived.
