In the third triptych, the human political realm has finally receded. What remains is the landscape. It is what is left when the negotiations have fallen silent, the conflicts have ended, and humanity’s claim to control has lost its force. The landscape becomes both concrete and existential: a place that outlives humanity, yet also carries the traces of its presence. In the lower left corner of the painting, a solitary figure is moving. The direction is clear: out of the landscape, out of the image. This movement can be read as retreat, loss, or liberation—but also as a reminder of humanity’s temporary presence in a world that is larger than itself.
