Filippa Nilsson Kallhed. Femininity and humour merge in the sculptures of Filippa Nilsson Kallhed (b. 1986, Sweden). The two works in this exhibition, Tutti-Frutti and Hermes, were created through casting, with the artist using her body as a central motif, collaged with everyday objects such as food or clothing. The personal and private are key resources for Nilsson Kallhed, and studio experiments often become the starting point for her work. The stone-like surfaces reference ancient sculpture, while the close-up, cropped perspectives of body parts echo contemporary marketing strategies, highlighting the quirkiness of different areas. Unexpected juxtapositions—ears with ankles, lemons for breasts—form a unique visual vocabulary. While exploring identity and sexuality, Nilsson Kallhed embraces humour, bringing a playful twist to the traditional medium of sculpture.

Filippa Nilsson Kallhed (b. 1986, Stockholm, SE) lives and works in Stockholm, where she graduated in 2021 from the Master’s Programme in Fine Art at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts, and Design. She creates sculptures exploring identity, the body, memory, sexuality, and humour. Her practice primarily involves moulding and casting, often using her own body as the starting point.
