In the artwork "After Image" (2022), Gölin has allowed a machine vision to create a mask for the parts of the image that it deemed should be highlighted. Similar to the darkroom, the mask is marked in Photoshop's interface with a red color. Instead of utilizing the machine-generated mask for adjustments, Gölin has chosen to include this interface, the communication between the machine vision and the artist, as part of the artwork. The red mask that conceals the subject symbolizes how we capture our surroundings through photography without truly seeing what is happening.
